     1080i
    Refers to a resolution statndard for HDTV's. Basically the TV is capable of displaying 1920x1280 pixels, where the "i" stands for "interlaced". The lines alternate in displaying on the TV. If you had 4 lines, numbered 1-4, lines 1 and 3 would scan first, then 2 and 4, alternating in fractions of a second to diplay an image. There is still a debate however, as to which looks better 1080i or 720p.

    Currently, the best resolution for gaming on HDTV. Basically the TV is capable of displaying 1920x1280 pixels, where the "p" stands for "progressive". Lines are displayed all at once, creating a smooth, detailed image. Can be referred to as Full-HD

    Refers to a resolution standard for HDTV's. Basically the TV is capable of displaying 1280x720 pixels, where the "p" stands for "progressive". Lower resolution than 1080p, but still a great picture. There is still a debate however, as to which looks better 1080i or 720p.

     Ad-Hoc
    Wireless connection allowing you to connect to players in your immediate vicinity. The PSP and DS are good examples for "ad-hoc" gaming.

    Artificial Intelligence. How well the computer controlled enemies or allies react to the human player.

    Games like Shenmue, Myst, or Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

     Bloom
    An effect used to create a semi-focused, blurred glow of white light on objects and surfaces.

     Cel-Shading
    Refers to a technique used to create 3D objects resembling a cartoon.

     CG
    Computer Generated. Think cutscenes that don't use in-game graphics, or movies like Final Fantasy: Spirits Within.

    Downloadable Content. This can be a free or inexpensive add-on to enhance gameplay in existing games.

    Electronic Entertainment Expo. One of the largest gaming events in the industry that usually showcases new and upcoming games.

     Fighting Game
    Games like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat.

     First-Party
    A game created by a console manufacturer for use exclusively on it's own system. Think Nintendo's Super Mario, Sony's God of War, or Microsoft's Halo. They will never grace another system.

     FPS
    Used to describe games like Halo, Wolfenstein, or Call of Duty, where you cannot actually "see" your character. Can also refer to "frames per second" which is a measure of how many frames of animation take place in one second. The more the better(30fps,60fps)

    Heads-Up Display. Transparent display that presents data without requiring the user to look away from his or her usual viewpont. In games it can display remaining health, lives, ammo, etc.
